Character Information

Character Name: Eleanor Lamb.
Character Series: Bioshock 2.
Character Age: ~17-19 years old.
Character Gender: Female.
Original Canon
Canon Point: Bioshock 2 Ending: Best Ending scenario.
Background Link: Bioshock 2, Eleanor Lamb, Subject Delta, Big Daddy, Big Sister, Little Sister.
Personality: Raised to be a prodigy and a guinea pig of her mother's experiments, Eleanor was a bright, precocious child with an avid curiosity and the cunning to get her way. She was an innocent girl, willing to learn from experience as much as from books. This shows particularly in the audio diaries from her time before becoming a Little Sister, particularly her sincere belief that other children in Rapture were "dog eaters" and not human. Not because she was prejudiced, per se, but because her mother's words are all she knew. Her openness to new things is demonstrated when she meets Amir, however, and her friendship with him. Her marvel at the fact he is so human is perhaps the first seed of dissent about her mother's work. For all her mother tried to control her upbringing and mold her into the perfect heiress, Eleanor befriended Amir and found immense pleasure in venturing outside, against her mother's explicit orders.

However, once she became a Little Sister, Eleanor's personality was very nearly deleted under the psychological conditioning and the strain of carrying the slug within her. Even though she didn't exactly display much of a personality of her own, acting like pretty much all Little Sisters met in-game, Eleanor was special in that she was the first Little Sister to be successfully bound to a Big Daddy, the codenamed Subject Delta. This psychic bond was so strong, that even after Delta died and Eleanor's mother undid most of her conditioning, she still yearned for him. The loss of her Big Daddy hit Eleanor hard, and fostered those first seeds of discontent with her mother's methods, as the trauma of watching her beloved "Father" die gave her the drive to work for ten long years, until she found a way to revive him again.

Eleanor's personality depends heavily on the actions of the player - Subject Delta - in Bioshock 2, whether he is merciful or cruel redefines her personality as she eagerly learns from his example and creates her own set of values with his as a model, completely discarding her mother's plans for her. In the Best Ending, where Subject Delta rescued every single Little Sister and saved all NPCs, Eleanor has learned mercy and compassion, and has come to embrace them as the ideal. That is not to say she doesn't struggle with the negative emotions that have been growing in her during her captivity as her mother's pawn: Eleanor is visibly angry and irritated at Splicers during the battles to escape Persephone, repeatedly yelling that she is no messiah, but she is considerably less cruel than if Delta had harvested the Sisters instead.

Eleanor's defining characteristic is her determination to have things her way, which combined with her patience - it took her ten years, but she figured out how to revive Delta - and her blind devotion to her "father" and those she cares about, make her a force to be reckoned with. She can be very dangerous, and she knows it, but she has embraced Delta's message of mercy and she just wants to find her own place in the world, find a life of her own. She will not hesitate to defend herself or those she cares about, but she is over all, far more friendly - if oddly dramatic - than one might originally expect, just going by her background alone.
Abilities: Quoted directly from the wiki entry above:
After years of gene therapy and perfected versions of the large-dose ADAM treatments that turned Gil Alexander into a colossal amphibian, Eleanor is gifted with the abilities of dozens of people and Splicers, with seemingly none of the usual negative side-effects. Powers she is capable of include:
  • Telekinesis powerful enough to move live Splicers through the air.
  • Superhuman Strength and Agility rivaling that of a legitimate Big Sister.
  • Pyrokinesis in the form of explosive, ranged fireballs launched from her hands.
  • Teleportation in a much cleaner form of the Houdini Splicers' signature ability, causing a bright purple glow when used.
  • Compounded Intellect from many other citizens of Rapture, including their memories, skills and "essence".
  • Little Sister Possession, allowing her to remotely enter the minds of Little Sisters and use them to perform various tasks. She is also able to temporarily endow others with this power through a special Plasmid.
  • Extrasensory Perception. In addition to her deep-seated psychic bond with Subject Delta, Eleanor seems to have a "sixth sense" for danger, and she will instinctively attack any enemy as soon as they spot her or Delta during combat.
Eleanor also retains the slug implanted within her from her time as a Little Sister, making her a living ADAM factory and capable of withstand the strain of all the ADAM treatments she's been put through.
